Course description

Balanced Minds: Harmonizing Learning Environments is a practical training course designed for teachers, trainers, and education professionals who want to improve well-being, emotional balance, and relational quality in their classrooms and institutions.

The course addresses the increasing emotional and mental demands placed on educators and learners. Through non-formal education, reflective practices, and experiential activities, participants explore how to create calm, safe, motivating, and inclusive learning environments that support both academic success and personal development.

The training is highly interactive and practice-oriented. Participants experience each method as learners, reflect on its impact, and adapt it for immediate use in their own educational settings.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will:

  • Understand the relationship between well-being, emotions, and learning
  • Apply strategies to manage stress and emotional overload in educational contexts

  • Foster empathy, respect, and positive communication among learners
  • Create learning environments that support inclusion and emotional safety
  • Improve their own emotional regulation and professional resilience
  • Develop an action plan for harmonising learning environments in their institutions

Detailed programme of the mobility period

Day 1 – Well-Being, Balance & the Learning Environment

Module content:

  • Well-being in education: concepts, challenges, and impact on learning
  • Emotional climate of the classroom and its influence on behaviour and motivation
  • Self-awareness for educators: stressors, triggers, and personal balance
  • Group cohesion and trust-building in a safe learning environment

Activities:
Non-formal icebreakers, emotional check-in activities, group mapping of stress factors in schools, reflective journaling, guided group discussion.


Day 2 – Emotional Intelligence & Stress Management

Module content:

  • Emotional intelligence: recognising, understanding, and managing emotions
  • Stress in the teaching profession: causes, symptoms, and prevention
  • Emotional regulation techniques for educators and learners
  • Building emotional safety and empathy in the classroom

Activities:
Role-play scenarios, emotion cards, guided relaxation and breathing exercises, empathy games, reflective pair work, stress-management micro-tools.


Day 3 – Communication, Relationships & Group Dynamics

Module content:

  • Positive and non-violent communication in education
  • Active listening, empathy, and assertive expression
  • Group dynamics, conflict sources, and emotional tension in classrooms
  • Transforming the class into a cooperative and supportive team

Activities:
Communication games, conflict simulation and debriefing, trust-building exercises, cooperative challenges, group reflection circles.


Day 4 – Non-Formal Tools for Harmony, Inclusion & Well-Being

Module content:

  • Non-formal education methods for emotional balance and inclusion
  • Using movement, creativity, and play to reduce tension and increase engagement
  • Inclusive practices supporting diverse emotional and learning needs
  • Creativity and mindfulness as tools for classroom harmony

Activities:
Mindfulness and grounding exercises, creative expression workshops (drawing, storytelling, metaphors), outdoor or movement-based activities, design of well-being routines for classrooms.


Day 5 – Transfer to Practice, Action Planning & Sustainability

Module content:

  • Integrating well-being practices into daily teaching routines
  • Designing balanced learning environments at classroom and school level
  • Preventing burnout and supporting long-term teacher well-being
  • Reflection, dissemination, and validation of learning outcomes

Activities:
Design of personal and institutional action plans, peer feedback sessions, case-study analysis, final reflection activities, commitment statements.


Methodology

The course is based on non-formal and experiential learning. Participants engage in interactive activities, simulations, reflective exercises, group work, creative workshops, and guided discussions. Each session follows a learning cycle of experience, reflection, analysis, and transfer to practice, ensuring relevance and immediate applicability.


Target group

Teachers (all levels), trainers, adult educators, VET professionals, school leaders, and education staff interested in well-being, emotional intelligence, and creating balanced learning environments.


Certification

Participants receive a Certificate of Attendance and Europass Mobility, in accordance with Erasmus+ requirements.
